Social Events

The conference will include the following three official social events:

1. Opening reception – Sunday 19th August

2. 2018 FIPA World (Primate) Cup – Tuesday 21st, Wednesday 22nd, Thursday 23rd, Friday 24th August

The 2018 FIPA (Federation of International Primatological Associations) World (Primate) Cup football (soccer) tournament will take place at the Nairobi IPS Congress.  Four teams will compete for the coveted Primate Cup, with the semi-finals and finals taking place at the the UN Recreation Center. Teams must have a minimum of 3 female players on the field at all times.  The four teams competing will be comprised of:

  • Those who study prosimians
  • Those who study New World monkeys
  • Those who study Old World monkeys
  • Those who study apes

  • ‘Those who study apes’: Steve Ross (sross@lpzoo.org)

Individuals who might qualify for more than one team based on their research interests, will have to choose a single team to play on. Games will be played according to the FIPA (not FIFA) Laws of the Game, allowing for unlimited substitutions. Additional information will follow. We look forward to a great World (Primate) Cup tournament.
